Karl Marx is a German philosopher whom wrote Das Kapital, and, with the help of Friederich Engels, wrote the Communist Manifesto, which are the two books upon which the entire communist philosophy is based.
The original form of communism was called Marxism, or Marxist Socialism. Then those who were inspired by Lenin created Leninism, otherwise known as Marxist-Leninism. Then Stalin created his own cult of personality, and made all economic decisions managed by the government. The idolizing of Stalin and use of his state-run economic system created Stalinist communism". The story remains the same for Maoism. North Korea doesn't even practice any form of communism, it is simply state-managed economy.

Anyway, antimatter is a very awesome substance to use for weapons. You seal it in a vacuum tube, which will be broken upon impact.
Or, as I do, you set the warhead to trigger nuclear fusion between anti-hydrogen. The nuclear fusion explosion would already be extremely powerful, and break the tube, but then contact with the matter atmosphere would make its power yield even greater.
In this story, I would like Valourium to remain standing as a civilization that has defeated the zombies, but only at the cost of all freedom, has fallen into a police state, and most of the population is still dead at that point.

Depends if America gets off it's ass, or China gets their own ideas fusion engines can be up and running in 15 years give or take. OOC: Hi guys. I've been inactive lately because I was in the hospital. Dengue fever. It's pretty common where I live (this is my second bout) but I'm all ok now and ready to get back to whatever we are doing.

IC: Defense comprises the largest sector of government spending here, plus an all-consuming economy and high tax rates, we have loads of cash for our troops. We'll foot the bill for Gavony's procurement of new tanks.

We will also not follow the use of whatever standard battle tank for our regional armed forces since we are not willing to phase out our HBT-107 "Talon" Tanks. These were home-made and works for our military. We are willing to have a new APC for our troops, a new model is in development but it can be scrapped for the sake of regional unity.

Well, I have a new idea, and some things to clarify.
The T-99 will be our main multiplatform ground armour, while the T-95 will be our MBT.
These official standards only apply to the regional defense coalition. Any nation that has a military has the right to their own weapons, own designs, and own organization. Just because the coalition will use a main weapon does not mean that every nation with a military has to use them.

I recommend the HBT-107 "Talon" tanks. 125mm electromagnetically-boosted main gun and 2 12.5mm MGs as secondary firepower, this thing can deal damage at longer ranges than tanks with conventional main guns. 700mm of composite armor protects the front, while 50mm, at the top, is the thinnest it'll get. It is powered by a locally-produced turboshaft engine, which provides it with all the power it needs, along with a battery for the boosters.

Actually yes. Akkaga, as Valorioum knows, manly is focused on it's Navy (That's because of the Grand Admiral being the leader) Try to envision a destroyer like the Americans slightly wider with 2 guassian cannons on each side with two AA battery's that can also be used as light ship firing.

Yeah this is why we use M.A.C. Cannons. Instead of regular missiles. Magnetic accelerator Cannon. I could draw up some blue prints for you. Also not sure on how up to date some weaponry is but I thought railguns were new prototypes. Since this is PMT I sorta already integrated those parts. Very light railguns/MAC cannons. Enough to put a dent and maybe a hole in another ships hull but not enough to rip clean through and completely destroy the ship. That would be to large and you would have to sacrifice other weapons and such to get one even on the ship.

MAC's with GPS guidance would be just about perfect. They can't be intercepted, and would still have quite a good range.
Anyway, on the topic of corruption, Valourium used to be in the top 5% of the world for most corrupt. What we did was give people control of political salaries, lowered the politicians' salary almost to the poverty line, made them announce all of their public spendings and "business expenses". Even then, we are still in the top 30,000 or so for most corrupt.

When life gives you Lenins use them to brutally crush the opposing armies and every country against you.

Also I believe that the USSR would have fallen apart. The only reason it stayed alive was because Stalin kept it alive. If the world had gone Communist all at once, then we would have an Utopia, but this didn't happen. Other countries hated the Soviet's and it was hard for them to keep existing. Stalin forced trade and the economy keeping the USSR alive. Without him then the cold war would not have happened or it would have heated up.

if someone like say..... "Trotsky" had led the soviet union through the war, the country ... if it hadn't collapsed during the war, or if it even survived the war it would be decimated,
Stalin was able to keep the USSR together and keep its military effective while at the same time bolstering the country.
though Stalin could have died maybe a bit sooner, but nonetheless it was a posistive thing he led the USSR during the war.

I have updated the map. I have yet to update it to the website, unfortunately, so it'll be awhile before we actually have it up.
We're going to have to make a new map to put new joining countries on. It's not so bad. the COG does this, since they have over a hundred members. It's about ten countries on each map of theirs. Either that, or they just had enough to actually place over 300. I had a puppet nation in it once. It no longer exists, but it gave me good insight into regional function.

Well, it's sad that political events seem to have decimated the UCR.
Altiressia's isolation has once more saved it from much of the turmoil.

I was wondering if, to stave further threats, it would be good to coordinate our militaries better. And to have an idea what the total military capacity of the UCR is.

At defense rating of 63, I thought Altiressia could serve as a goalpost.

Of course, different nations will have different types of armies. A very large nation with low defense rating may have a large infantry, but few modern facilities.

Altiressia has a relatively small, but modern and professional army.
As a distand archipelago, the Navy has been particularly stressed.

We have three carriers, about 30 nuclear submarines, three battleships, about 30 destroyers.
We also bought a state of the art radar, sonar and computer system that can be used to patrol thousands of square miles of ocean very rapidly. Smaller ships work independently, while a communications and computers centre has been fitted on a destroyer. The system is very unique to Altiressia and makes us particularly apt at surveilling the ocean.

They're equipped with enough sea-to-land missiles to inflict a whallop hundreds of miles inland for quite a while. We reckon we can keep intensive bombardments up for about 2 months, plus the air force.

The air force is mostly composed of U.S.-made apache helicopters (about 100) and French Mirages, the latest model. They can also add to the bombing.

Our military is mostly aimed at being capable of punitive/air support missions. As an island, we never really had to deal much with the possibility of a full scale invasion, so that land forces are minimal. We do have some tanks, a few divisions of infantry and so forth, but for the most part, these have a quasi-civilian role since they have had no real foreign use for over 80 years.

We also have a bunch of old soviet anti-aircraft stuff from the Cold War... we were thinking of getting more modern ones.

One last note: We find it hard to believe nobody in the UCR could use Uranium or Plutonium ore.
We have mines of both on our islands and we'd be happy to trade in it with other members. We would feel it irresponsible to sell such resources on the world market and besides, our policy is to trade with the UCR as a full member.

Now Altiressia itself has a policy of not developping nuclear weapons of its own, but it would be utopian to think the UCR can completely forego them.
We do have some civilian use for them, but not nearly enough that we can use all we have.
Therefore, if anybody could use the uranium and/or plutonium, all you have to do is ask.

Altiressia, I understand your desire to keep nuclear weapons out of Altiressia. That is why I propose the UCR Collective Defence Coalition (CDC) construct anti-ballistic missiles sites off the shores of your nation, and leave the offensive part to the CDC bases outside of your nation. Therefor, your nation can claim full detachment from WMDs.

This sounds indeed like an excellent solution.
Frankly, we're looking for a useful outlet for all that Uranium and so forth... as an island, we could be a last resource base for nuclear weapons, but politically, this would be difficult as our government has already expressed strong commitment not to make Altiressia a nuclear power.
Some of our military engineers have theoretical in building nuclear weapons... although we never pursued an official program. They would be glad to participate in the actual implementation.
The Altiressian navy is ready to ship Uranium and Plutonium on an hour's notice.

I was wondering - what is happening in the rest of the UCR?

Presently in Altiressia, we're having a bit of trouble with the Parliamentary system. Nothing serious; the opposition refuses to sit, so the constitution will soon force elections.

But the electoral map and party system can no longer any other result than a socialist majority. Oops.
That's part of what the opposition is protesting. They'd like to see a more truly democratic process and we say they can vote for any of the three socialist candidates that are running in their county they want.

Well, here's something you could do, Altressia, for a more democratic process.
Nationally, the Socialist Party may never lose due to nationwide support. But if you have semiautonomous sectors within the nation so that true demographic party support will be more accurately demonstrated, that could help.

So perhaps it was a bit of paranoia on our part... we did play with the electoral map and such... (I'm telling you this in confidence, of course, not that it's really a secret...)

The people seem happy.

Well, as I see it... they will eventually have both great phone connections and health care. The phone connection can actually lead to the expansion of democracy. In Valourium, a list of referendum requests can be made at any time via mobile update, and everyone in the country may access the list at any time to approve or disapprove of the requests. Any request receiving at least 33% of the population's approval will become a vote. Then, if 66% approve, it becomes law. Circumstances may lower the percentage required to pass.
